SNCT of version 11 do not support SG Proxy

Description

When using the Service Engine Version 11 in combination with IIoT Services (Service Grid) version 11.2 or later, communication problems occur when utilizing the Service Node Configuration Tool (SNCT) to retrieve certificate bundles from the Hub Controller.

Cause:

When using IIoT Services (Service Grid) Version 11.2 or later with a Service Node Configuration Tool (SNCT) prior Build 11.0..0.111841, the SNCT does not support the communication with the Hub Controller via the Proxy Service. The Proxy Service was introduced with IIoT Services (Service Grid) 11.2.

The former fields for Port and Hostname have been merged into the URL field. This requires an additional path specification for the Hub Controller.

Solution:

  • When using the Service Engine version 11 together with IIoT Services (Service Grid) version 11.2 or later, update the Service Engine using a build update version starting with 11.0..0.111841.
  • In the SNCT add the respective port number and "/hub-controller" to the URL.  
    For example: https://mycomputer.mydomain.local:9443/hub-controller
  • When using Service Engine version 12 in combination with IIoT Services (Service Grid) version 11.2 or later, this additional URL path is not necessary and communication is supported out of the box.
