HTML-Screen: WebView2 is available in zenon 10&11

HTML-Screen: WebView2 is available in zenon 10&11

Summary

As of zenon 10, WebView2 is used as the browser for the HTML type screen by default. For zenon 10 and 11 CEF can also be activated.

Description

WebView2 is the basis of the Microsoft Edge browser and replaces Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF) from Google. As of zenon 12, WebView2 is the only available browser for the HTML screen.

When a current build of zenon 10 or 11 is applied, CEF, if still present, will be replaced by WebView2. If this is not desired, CEF can be reactivated manually for zenon 10 and 11 by configuring the zenon6.ini.

In zenon 10 and 11, an entry in the zenon6.ini entry can be used to switch between Internet Explorer, Chromium and WebView2. This entry is no longer available as of zenon 12.

How to configure the browser for the HTML screen in zenon 10 and 11:

  1. Open the zenon6.ini.
  2. Navigate to the [BROWSER] section.
  3. Select the desired value for the entry IE=.
    Possible values:
    • 0: Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF).
    • 1: Internet Explorer
    • 2: WebView2

            Default: WebView2

Note: WebView2 is not available for Windows versions 8 and 8.1 and older builds of Windows 10. For these versions, WebView2 can be manually installed.
