FAQ: zenon was delivered to me pre-configured on a machine or as a solution, how can I make changes to it?
zenon is a very flexible automation software used in a variety of industries and purposes. Many mechanical engineering companies, machine builders, and system integrators deliver zenon as a standard HMI/SCADA for their machines, or solutions, which are eventually owned and/or operated by end-users. If you are an end user and have zenon running in your facility as HMI/SCADA, you may not even know it at first. If you are however interested in adapting the zenon HMI/SCADA project, we suggest: Contact the machine builder, distributor, or system integrator for additional information. Often times, the purchase of the systems may include additional services and/or support contracts. The party who delivers zenon is normally capable, and willing to make adaptions to the project for the end-user. This is also suggested as to avoid any possible warranty issues, and decrease the risk of possible misconfigurations. If you do wish to change your zenon HMI/SCADA projects yourself, COPA-DATA strongly suggests that you attend one of our zenon training programs. In a zenon training, offered directly by COPA-DATA, you will learn the essential fundamentals about the zenon HMI/SCADA software.

Note: The zenon HMI/SCADA consists of 2 main components.
- The zenon Engineering Studio is used to develop, modify, and compile zenon projects.
- The zenon Service Engine which loads the configured project by reading the Service Engine files compiled by Engineering Studio. It is therefore required to have the Engineering Studio project, if you wish to make HMI changes. Service Engine files alone cannot be decompiled, and cannot be used to make changes. The zenon Engineering Studio project or project backup is required.
