FAQ: I have different Service Engine versions in use now and I need a new feature from the very latest zenon version. Is it possible to work with the latest zenon Engineering Studio but also use Service Engine of previous versions?

The zenon Engineering Studio includes a "downward compatibility" feature. This means the zenon compiler can be configured to create Service Engine files also for older Service Engine versions. This setting can be found in the project settings in the topic "General" and is labelled as "Create Service Engine files for".

Nevertheless, no new feature can be compiled for an older version of the Service Engine as this was not previously implemented. The SCADA engineer has nothing to consider while editing the project, as the project compiler automatically compiles the project according to the target Service Engine version.
