Summary

Updating structure data types may block the Engineering Studio for a long period of time. This has been improved.

Description

If structure data types are changed, this can lead to a long blockade of the Engineering Studio. Even if only a few elements have been changed, the Engineering Studio forces the SQL server to update all elements of the complex variables. For example, by change affecting only a few elements, thousands of elements are processed.

 

This behavior has been changed. The processing now takes place only on affected elements and typically causes hardly noticeable delay.

 

To benefit from this fix:

  • Update your zenon Software Platform to the latest build of zenon 11 or higher.

 

Tip: When the driver uses "Name based" addressing, choose for variable addressing option "Offset calculation" the "Manual addressing" instead of default "Automatic addressing". This generally reduces the time needed for updates.
