CodeMeter Control Center: Not possible to create a new soft dongle (ERROR 233)


If CodeMeter reports the error 233 and if it is not possible to create software dongles anymore, you can try the following steps to solve the issue:









CodeMeter Error 233 is a general error. The CodeMeter Error 233 can occur for various reasons. 
This case here only applies if no software dongle can be created. 




Solution

It is likely that CodeMeter has been updated from =< 7.60 to a current version. If this is the case, the CodeMeter Soft Dongle Files have been transformed and something went wrong when converting the CmAct files.
Another reason could be that the CodeMeter Soft Dongle files were transferred from another system.

Try the following steps to solve the issue:
      1. stop CodeMeter service
      2. Navigate to the directory %PROGRAMDATA%\CodeMeter\CmAct
      3. delete the files with the extension *.WibuCmDyn (example: 6000111_82005addeb457810432ee71a7c0ac2206e2fceb3.WibuCmDyn)
      4. rename the files with the extension *.WibuCmTmp to *.WibuCmDyn) (example: 6000111_82005addeb457810432ee71a7c0ac2206e2fceb3.WibuCmTmp to *.WibuCmDyn)
      5. start the CodeMeter service.

If these steps do not help proceed as follows in Plan B:

      1. stop CodeMeter service
      2. delete all files in the directory %PROGRAMDATA%\CodeMeter\CmAct
      3. start the CodeMeter service.
