Checklist: Component cannot find the license

Time estimate: 15 minutes

Please go through all the points in the following checklist. If necessary, confirm with IT Department any information you cannot verify before contacting your local COPA-DATA Representative.

  1. Screenshot and followed instructions of error/warning messages shown.
  2. [Task Manager > Services] [Command Prompt: netstat -a -o | findstr :22350] CodeMeter Runtime Service is running (CodeMeter.exe) and listening on TCP Port 22350 (default).
  3. [Task Manager > Users] Component is already started in the background or by another user in the network or locally (i.e. other Windows user is logged-in).
  4. Dongle is shown as ‘Enabled’ in ‘CodeMeter Control Center’.
  5. In case dongle is broken, it is not possible to use it anymore.
  6. Check if dongle is available:
    1. Local hardware dongle is plugged in.
    2. Hardware dongle in network: Computer can be reached via ping in the network and dongle is plugged in the remote computer.
  7. [License Manager] The respective product item is shown:
    1. …as Enabled.
    2. …in the top position.
    3. …without any error/warnings.
  8. Other or known CodeMeter errors:
    1. Type CmDust in Windows start menu to collect a CodeMeter Log file.

  A new *.wibucmrau file is required. Contact your local sales representative.
Log File:
CmAct-Hds: Read failed
Something blocks the files needed for the CmActLicense.
Probably the Antivirus software blocks the file access. Whitelist  %programdata%\CodeMeter\CmAct

If the problem persists after completing this checklist and followed corrective actions, please contact your local COPA-DATA Representative providing a SIC-Reduced Report from the target computer(s) and the result of this checklist – please include any additional information or comments related with the points addressed you find relevant.

System Information Collector is a standalone COPA-DATA application that collects relevant data about the Operating System and zenon Software Platform for troubleshooting purposes. SIC is installed with zenon and can be started from zenon Startup Tool (Tools).
