Checklist: Multimonitor administration

Checklist: Multimonitor administration

Time estimate:  15 minutes

Please go through all the points in the following checklist. If necessary, confirm with IT Department any information you cannot verify before contacting your local COPA-DATA Representative.
  1. zenon configuration file (zenon6.ini) located in %CD_SYSTEM% includes the necessary parameters for multimonitor administration in [DEFAULT] section as shown in the next figure (example of two horizontal aligned monitors with a resolution of 1920x1080: standard dual monitor configuration).

  2. Multimonitor configuration must be done in every computer independently so that the screen profile set in the Engineering Studio is only applied in the local computer. The resolution parameters must also be set in each Service Engine / Smart Client computer independently.
  3. In Engineering Studio, in project monitor administration in General tab:
    1. The amount of physical and virtual monitors is set.
    2. The number of physical monitors must match the number used for the calculation of the all monitors combined in point 1.
The number of virtual monitors can be higher than the physical monitors, for example, in case to split a monitor.
    3. At least one monitor profile is configured.
    4. The base size for all frames is configured.
  4. In the monitor profile(s) tab virtual monitors are assigned to the physical monitors and positioned accordingly. Refer to screenshot below for the standard dual monitor solution described.

  5. Screen switch functions are assigned to the correct virtual monitors.
  6. Searched in Knowledge Base if a previous issue has been addressed.
If the problem persists after completing this checklist and followed corrective actions, please contact your local COPA-DATA Representative providing a SIC-Reduced Report from the target computer(s) and the result of this checklist – please include any additional information or comments related with the points addressed you find relevant.
System Information Collector is a standalone COPA-DATA application that collects relevant data about the Operating System and zenon Software Platform for troubleshooting purposes. SIC is installed with zenon and can be started from zenon Startup Tool (Tools).
