Checklist: Message Control

Time estimate: 15 minutes

Please go through all the points in the following checklist. If necessary, confirm with IT Department any information you cannot verify before contacting your local COPA-DATA Representative.
  1. Screenshot and followed instructions of error/warning messages shown.
  2. Message Control is licensed in the target Service Engine server computer.
  3. In network projects with two Service Engine servers, each server requires Message Control license and identical configuration.
  4. [MESSAGECONTROL] section in zenon configuration file (zenon6.ini) have identical configuration in both Service Engine servers.
  5. 'Windows CE project' is not enabled in project properties > General settings.
  6. Message Control is not supported in CE operating systems. Enabling the option 'Windows CE project' disables Message Control.
  7. 'Service Engine changeable data' for the module 'User administration' allows to generate and transfer Service Engine files (option: 'Do not generate and transfer' is unchecked).
  8. For SMS and Voice message a modem is installed on the target Service Engine server.
  9. If a modem is used, it is possible to test the modem successfully. This can be done with HyperTerminal or PuTTY.
  10. For Outlook message type, Outlook mas be installed and running. The Outlook CPU architecture version must match the Service Engine version (32bit-32bit / 64bit-64bit).
  11. You can find Outlook profiles in Control Panel > Mail > Profile.
    It is not possible to use Outlook Express as it does not support profiles.
  12. Voice message type is only possible with a voice enabled modem (DTFM-modem). Dial 891 when phone is ringing after sending of voice messages. DTMF needs the digits to activate the DTM module.
  13. Consult CEL in Service Engine for possible errors. Make sure 'All confirmation' is enabled in Message Control properties.
  14. Searched and followed error instructions in LOGs related with Message Control in Service Engine (zenrt32.exe).
  15. Searched in Knowledge Base if a previous issue has been addressed.
If the problem persists after completing this checklist and followed corrective actions, please contact your local COPA-DATA Representative providing a SIC-Reduced Report from the target computer(s) and the result of this checklist – please include any additional information or comments related with the points addressed you find relevant.
System Information Collector is a standalone COPA-DATA application that collects relevant data about the Operating System and zenon Software Platform for troubleshooting purposes. SIC is installed with zenon and can be started from zenon Startup Tool (Tools).
