Button as switch shows invalid state before a variable value is available

Button as switch shows invalid state before a variable value is available

Summary

A button element configured as a switch displays an invalid state in the Service Engine before a variable value is available. This behavior has been modified.

Description

When a screen is opened in the Service Engine, a button element that is not linked to a function but to a variable is only displayed if the variable has a known value. However, when configured as a switch, it immediately displays the last known value or a 0 state. This is not correct.

This behavior has been modified. A button element that is configured as a switch no longer displays its status before the linked variable has a known value. This behavior thus also corresponds to other dynamic screen elements such as the switch element and dynamic text element.

To benefit from this fix:

  • Update your zenon Software Platform to the latest build of zenon 12 or higher.

Note: If the incorrect behavior of the button as a switch was used in zenon before version 12 for displaying "write-only" variables before setting the first value or for slow responding bidirectional setpoints, this functionality is no longer available with the update to version 12.
