Using parameters and variables in Report Viewer

Hello
I have some question about using Microsoft Visual Studio Report Builder.
1. I added variable in Report Properties. After it my report stopped to show any data.
I deleted this variable but report didn’t start to work correctly. Is it possible to add variables and use them in report?
2. I tried to use parameters in my report that have a possibility to filter data from dataset.
But I can't initialize my parameter using value from dataset which attached to online variable from zenon. Parameter didn’t get init value. Is it possible to do it? Can you help me?
If I used constant value as init value when parameter worked correctly and I could use this parameter as a filter for dataset.
My OS is Windows 7 x32 and Sprecon-V460 v7.10 build 7770.
