Partial variable update with XML

Partial variable update with XML

Is it possible to create and varible XML import file such that it updates some information .ie the address offset of an varible but leaves other configuration of the varible unchanged?
So I would want to update address offset but leave all of the limit configuration unchanged.

The variables I am working with are structured data types. I tried deleting the parts of XML I did not want updated and it did not work as expected.
