How to use ActiveX in Client Network Structures
Dear ladies and gentlemen,
I am using the "CD_DotNetControlContainer" and "ActiveX elements" in context with an external GUI software from third party which supports "COM" and integrate complex visualisation views from this external application in our Zenon (version 6.51) user interface without having the source code of this third party application. This third party application is connected to a measuring hardware.
My intended targets:
- Customization of the original offline third party application and GUI in our own online Zenon project with added values in form of own knowledge modules and inclusion of additional variables coming from own hardware.
- Using ActiveX elements to get visualisation from third party GUI and distribute this via Client Network approach to Zenon Runtime Clients.
My Problem:
- ActiveX element with mentioned complex visualisation is working properly on Server Runtime but on Client Runtime the ActiveX element has no reference to Server ActiveX. It is independent from Server which is the only one physically connected to measuring hardware.
My Question(s):
-Makes my approach sense with regard to limitations of Zenon Runtime at all? (Bandwidth etc.)
-Should my .dll on client side refer accordingly to the .dll on Server as changes in graphs on Server side are not influencing graph behaviour on client side?
Thank you very much in advance for any ideas for a possible solution approach!
