Handling Asynchronous Data - Report Generator

I am new to Zenon, and using the 6.22 tutorials to try and understand the 6.50 system.
All the examples for ARCHIVING, FOLLOWING ARCHIVES, and the REPORT GENERATOR seem to assume regular sampled data.
I have asynchronous data from a machine, with 1 to 3 seconds between data points. I have set up a trigger variable to store values in a BASIC ARCHIVE OK. My problem comes when trying to layout a report with 24 lines per page. How do I specify I want 24 (*N) items of data, and not 48 seconds of data (which could be 16-48 items or sets of data items).
Any help greatly appreciated.
