Filter the list of Recipes

How can I filter the list of recipes displayed ?

I want to fllter by name ie if the contains certain strings
or by the value of one of the variables in the recipe.

ie
all the recipes that contain the string "Big" or "Med" or "Small"

alternatively I could use a variable in the recipe and filter based on its value

with the screen switch functions there is a field for filter, can i Use this ?
