Extended trend with opc-variable

I try to use extended trend with archive. First, I set up the archive. The archive contains one variable from the opc-driver (opc-variable name: @PBuilding.@SLocations.@DF10_Vent.@OHwInput12.@NnvoTemp4_val.@FSNVT_temp#SI).
If I use this variable then the extended trend does not show anything. But if I bind with allocations the opc-variable to the internal variable (internal variable name: Temp4) and add the internal variable to the archive, the extended trend will show the curve of Temp4.
And I have a question: can I change the long opc-variable name for a short without using the internal variable and allocations?
