CEL log - writing to Windows CE Compact Flash Card

CEL log - writing to Windows CE Compact Flash Card

Good morning.
I would like the CEL event log written to the compact flash card intermittently so that if the power is turned off to the Windows CE device, the log will still exist and will be able to see alarms/control setpoints history that haves changed etc.
This is all logging as expected when I have the save ring buffer spontaneously ticked in the CEL configuration but then when any setpoint is changed or alarm acknowledge button pressed, writing to the compact flash card occurs for approx 4 seconds, during this time zenon doesn't respond to touch screen presses as Windows CE is creating this log file on the compact flash.
To stop this 4 second freezing, I have turned off save ring buffer spontaneously under CEL configuration and placed a button that executes the function to save AML and CEL memory buffer. This works but the user will have to press it and wait for this delay/write to occur.
Is there a way of writing this automatically say every 24 hours or is there a better way to stop this 4 second freezing but still have all the history if the power is cycled?
